In Wireshark 1.6.10, the path to the GeoIP databases was entered by manually
typing the path into the input field. This made it possible to use a relative
path, such as ".\GeoIP". When Wireshark Portable is installed on a USB flash
drive, and the flash drive is moved from one Windows computer to another, the
drive letter can change, and therefore the absolute path to the GeoIP database
files changes. Using a relative path, GeoIP lookups continued to function even
when the drive letter changed, with no modification to the path.

In Wireshark 1.8.x and higher, the path to the GeoIP databases is entered by
picking it from a file selection dialog. This results in an absolute path; it
is not possible to enter a relative path. If the flash drive is moved to
another computer and the drive letter changes, GeoIP lookups stop working until
the path is manually changed to reflect the new drive letter.

For those of us who run Wireshark Portable from a flash drive, allowing
relative paths would be a very useful enhancement.
