Actually I was trying windump with WinPcap 3.0 (intentionally),
as this dependence is not mentioned in the windump description.
Now I installed WinPcap 3.1 beta 4 and starting
                    windump -D
causes the system to freeze. I'll report this to WinPcap -
thank you for your patience.
