That sounds really odd to me.

Why stripping version info in Ethereal, which was wrongly reported by
the library. This is the wrong place to fix this.

In future, how will you distinguish between upcoming 3.1 and current 3.1
alpha 4?!?

This shouldn't be fixed in Ethereal but in the library which caused the
problem ...
