forget /Applications for a moment. Typing /usr/local/bin/wireshark is what counts. The placeholder I have once created for /Applications/Wireshark.app is just a script typing that for you.

I would think you need to clean up your preferences and restart wireshark from scratch. so remove your ~/.wireshark directory and launch it. It might take a few seconds to launch it but it will work.

Also, I just tried the download process and install from "root".
If am guessing correctly, wireshark.app is made in /applications

Right?
the timestamps seem to check.

in any case, this crashes ...and no longer do I get the original console messages with "com.finkconsulting.wireshark[650]" in the readouts but now
always see readouts such as that which is included below.

So my question then is which way and how do i put wireshark back into Leopard?

Sorry to be a pest to all with such a fundamental and boring issue. I'd used this since Ethereal but seem now, in leopard, to have a mix of nearly similar
wireshark apps pointing back and forth at one-another.
