Quoting Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=705621 :

I am using xfce4 4.8.0-3 with a theme ("xfce-stellar") for which there
is no GTK3 theme, so new versions of Wireshark stays unthemed, like any
other GTK3 application. This in itself is no problem, but some
interaction between Wireshark and libgtk causes UI problems:

...

2. Marked text in the filter _expression_ ... (below the toolbar) is not
distinguishable from regular (non-marked) text.

Cheers,
-Hilko
