We might want to implement higher-level graph drawing routines with multiple
back ends, so that we could draw to a GdkPixmap, a PostScript file (for
printing), various desktop environments' printing APIs (for printing when you
have such APIs available), and perhaps to various graphic file formats.

might be useful for this.
