I'm using WinPcap 3.0 alpa 4 with Ethereal 0.9.8 and have no problems.
I also run Win-XP (SP1). I even compiled my own packet.dll and wpcap.dll
from latest libpcap tar-ball.

Some of the problems users have may be caused by the \Device name change
from 2.3 to 3.0. It used be "\Device\xx", but is now "\Device\NPF_xx".

Ethereal calls pcap_lookupdev(), so it shouldn't matter. But other programs
that hard-codes the "\Device\" part and appends the "xx" from WinSock 2 API, will
fail (WS2's GetAdaptersInfo() still uses the "\Device\xx" form).
