I don't know of any Linux distribution that does not ship the
graphics program "gimp" which relies on libglib2 anyway.

The libqt package is about eigth times as big as the libglib2
package, kdebaselibs alone has a factor of twentyfive, so I
don't think anybody will notice :-)

I'm not so experienced in this matter, but my understanding
was, the libglib is a useful cross platform library for all
kind of things, not only for GUI and Gtk+.
