A "Decode As" option to specify the dissector for the TCP conversation
too which a given packet belongs would probably be the right UI,
although that'd require that the redissection done after the "OK" button
is clicked *NOT* destroy the newly-created (or already extant) TCP
conversation, or that there be a way to create the conversation *after*
all the dissector "reset and free state" routines are called.

Could you clarify the status of this patch : is it rejected ?
I am working on decrypting SSL conversations (if the private key is known). Can Ethereal be made dependent on OpenSSL ?
