I was running AbiWord (I wanted to see what the GNOME style was for
showing recently opened files on an application's File menu - it appears
that they're listed as individual items at the bottom of the menu, which
I seem to remember might also be the way it's done in Windows; our "Open
Recent" is more Mac OS-like), and noticed that it had a toolbar item for
"Save As" - it looked like a floppy disk with a pencil or pen poised
above the label.
I don't know whether we would want that or not.
Hi!
I don't know if we need a "Save As" toolbar icon, as IMHO this isn't a
function frequently used.
But I wouldn't mind if someone wants to have it and implements it :-)
To summarize the "recent files" topic:
The recent file list is in:
-Mac OS: like we do it
-KDE: like we do it, without the "clear file list"
-Gnome: at the bottom of the file menu, without the "clear file list"
-Windows: at the bottom of the file menu, without the "clear file list"
Hmmmmmmmm,
I would tend to do it Gnome like, as I was trying to follow the Gnome
Guidelines at other places, too.
As this will reduce the number of "clicks" to do for the user, I think
it's the right thing to do.
This would mean:
-Get rid of the "clear file list" item again
-Put the submenu items "one level higher"
-Add mnemonics for the menu items (1, 2, ...)
As this topic is currently running ok, and "only" a matter of style, I
have currently some other topics with "higher priority" to do.
