Moin List,
just a few thoughts on the version numbers that were triggered by recent
changelog remarks. We are using Major.minor.Release (M.m.R). IMHO we
should be using M.m to mean that these versions are plugin compatible,
i.e. each time people have to recompile their plugins we should increase
the m. That way we would currently increase the m more often than the R,
but who cares and hopefully, that will change some time in the future.
Increasing the M could be done whenever we think some big improvement
as far as features are concerned (or lots of small ones) have been
implemented. This leads to the change of M from 0 to 1 (aka 1.0 release).
With all the features already in we might call the next version 1.0. In
case people really want a goal to achieve before that, well maybe getting
rid of the old style dissectors and updating to TODO file will do?
Ciao

I found out that "pro" means "instead of" (as in proconsul). Now I know
what proactive means.
