Ah...  some disapointment.  I am happy to see the general improvements in
terms of the typing system being pulled out into its own module and the
cleanup of the dfilter code and the addition of dranges to FT_FILTER, but I 
had been hoping that the dranges stuff would make it into the next release...

However, it should be noted that I am in complete agreement that both 
the dranges stuff and the rest of the cleanup you are proposing should be
allowed to cook in CVS for a while prior to release and thus if we are 
planning a release this week I agree with holding back both of them.
