Hi,
I have had a room of 12 people with 6 machines (Win NT 4.0 SP1 and SP4)
running Ethereal 0.8.6 with the latest libpcap for Windows.
On a number of occassions we had hangs, where Ethereal was consuming 100%
of the the CPU. Sometimes the kernel was consuming large amounts of CPU,
and on those occassions, we could not regain conrol except by using the
master reset. On other occassions we could kill Ethereal and get control
back. Windows stinks!
I checked a few times to see if I could reproduce it reliably, but could
not, and it seems to relate to how long you have been using Ethereal.
We also saw a few crashes ... These seemed to occur when you started a
trace again when a trace was already in the buffer. However, again, I could
not provoke the problem, but did observe it several times.
Regards
