Sure, I do it all the time. In fact, I've never actually run 64 bit
Wireshark, even though my OS's are all 64 bit. Unless you need the
capability of looking at large captures that will force Wireshark to
exceed the 32 bit process memory limit of 2GB, then the 64 bit version is
unnecessary.
Some folks have also reported issues on Ask Wireshark when running 64 bit
Wireshark with captures not showing packets transmitted from the capturing
system, see
