Documenting this on a platform-by-platform basis isn't the right answer.

On RedHat/Fedora asciidoc depends on docbook-style-xsl which provides the files in question.

I guess that either the former doesn't always require the latter or, on some systems, the dependencies are broken (or the packaging system in question doesn't support dependencies--do any of those exist any more?).
