I'm not sure. But these are the command I have used at one time. After upgrading the system to 10.6,
/usr/local has been removed and the new macosxsetup.sh script was used.

I seem to remember that issue coming up at one point, perhaps due to Pango using a buggy X server code path (the crash appears to be glyph-drawing related). I may have to try using older versions of the libraries for that.
