I just rebuilt Wireshark from the SVN trunk using GTK3 and the status bar looks normal. My build information is below -- it's still GTK 3.0.12 from FreeBSD ports. Maybe the problem comes from newer GTK versions? You listed 3.2 and the next person was 3.5.
