Yes, and I tried the existing stuff. Unfortunately, there seems to be a 
multitude of possible implementations - none of the existing ones are 
compatible.

I'm not an expert on this stuff, so it might be easy to rewrite the 
existing CRC stuff - but I'm really not an expert on this ...
