Nevermind, I managed to find some time this weekend to fix it as part of 
SVN revision 22115 :).  It turns out that it wasn't working even in 
0.99.5, but no one complained that I recall.  I've added this bug fix to 
the list of revisions for Gerald to consider copying to the 0.99.6 
branch.
