Assumption:
Wireshark 2.2.0 on Mac OSX 10.11. Set up for 802.11 monitoring.
Behavior:
when attempting to configure IEEE-802.11 to decrypt WEP-secured packets, I
selected the decryption enabled checkbox and added the wep key and click
apply. However, Wireshark failed to decrypt the wep-secured packets. I had to
recycle through the options on the IEEE-802.11 many times to get it by sheer
luck to work. When I unchecked the decryption enabled, in the times when the
decryption worked, Wireshark failed to stop the decryption and displayed
decrypted packets. I had to recycle through the options or in some cases
terminate and restart Wireshark for Wireshark to do what I set up for. In some
cases I had to even recycle several times through the monitoring option of the
wireless interface.
