I've seen that quite a few people install multiple versions of Wireshark at the
same time. IIRC that's why earlier versions of Wireshark put (by default?) the
version number in the window title: because it helped people keep all their
versions straight(!).
Never removing the old version is almost certainly not the right thing to do.
Always removing the old version appears like it will upset a decent number of
people.
The only remaining solution is to allow people to choose.
Maybe we're not asking in the best way? Maybe we should have a checkbox which
asks if the previous version should be removed (with the default being "yes,
remove the old version")?
