I decided to use an on-screen keyboard and was able to get into my machine.
Darn, completely spaced that one. 

Pascal's comment is exactly right. I ended up restoring my system through a
restore point created by a previous application. My system was complaining
about the following error

Simply uninstalling the driver and letting Windows to detect and install again
did not fix the problem.
