Hi, here are some answers :

# tcpdump -i MONI -L
Data link types for MONI (use option -y to set):
  DOCSIS (DOCSIS) (printing not supported)
  EN10MB (Ethernet)


it appears to me that it's always libpcap version 1.5.3,

on the machine with the issue (fedora package):

# wireshark -v
wireshark 1.10.12 (Git Rev Unknown from unknown)
