It was an actual bug, but the documentation might also be confusing/lacking. 
Suggestions for improvements are welcome ... although I had hoped to further
enhance the chopping feature (and thus simplify the documentation as well) by
allowing an arbitrary number of chopping regions (essentially allowing the user
to specify any number of -C options), but I haven't had the time to spend on
that.
