Ok, is there a big benefits when using extended value string vs value string ?

Is there a minimum of element to be defined to be more advantageous when using
extended string ?

If you agree, is it possible to first check in the patch I've set as
attachement, and then I will study where to use extended string vs strings, and
prepare a new patch once done

For the Macro, what you propose was my first implementation, but I wanted to
enhance it, (but it failed on gcc). So I reverted back for this.
