Running on 64-bit Windows 7 Service Pack 1, build 7601, with WinPcap version 4.1.3 (packet.dll version 4.1.0.2980), based on libpcap version 1.0 branch 1_0_rel0b (20091008), GnuTLS 2.12.18, Gcrypt 1.4.6, without AirPcap. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2540M CPU @ 2.60GHz, with 4006MB of physical memory. Built using Microsoft Visual C++ 10.0 build 40219 -- Perhaps a bug; perhaps a case of user error. General issue description: My goal is to create several L7 profiles with additional Packet List Columns specific to each protocol. When I create the new profile & use "Edit" -> "Edit Preferences" -> "Columns" to create additional columns for that *specific* profile; I find that he column changes (i.e. the preferences) are incorrectly loaded by the Default profile. I think I was able to resolve this issue by removing the refereneces to the custom columns in the C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Wireshark\recent file. For example: I created a HTTP profile with the following additional column titles, by using the Edit toolbar: "Edit" -> "Edit Preferences" -> "Columns" Here is a snippet of the new columns from the local HTTP profile preferences file... C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\Wireshark\profiles\HTTP\preferences> # Packet list column format # Each pair of strings consists of a column title and its format gui.column.format: "No.", "%m", "Time", "%t", "Source", "%s", "Destination", "%d", "Protocol", "%p", "http.user_agent", "%Cus:http.user_agent:0:R", "http.request.method", "%Cus:http.request.method:0:R", "http.host", "%Cus:http.host:0:R", "http.response.code", "%Cus:http.response.code:0:R", "http.request.uri", "%Cus:http.request.uri:0:R", "http.x_forwarded_for", "%Cus:http.x_forwarded_for:0:R", "http.referer", "%Cus:http.referer:0:R", "http.cache_control", "%Cus:http.cache_control:0:R", "Length", "%L", "Info", "%i" All is fine when using the HTTP profile. However, if I switch to the Default profile, I would still see those columns in the Packet List display. As mentioned, when I remove the references to the new columns from the "recent" file, all seems well. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? thanks, -doug
