Not too familiar with the effort that went into the custom bytes frame, but I
get the impression that it would be a rather significant change to backport.
This is not a particularly high-impact bug as these things go, so I'd vote to
not backport.

As for what to close the bug as, Fixed makes sense, as it is fixed in trunk,
but Invalid also makes sense, as the bug isn't really our fault.
