The Sylpheed changes work, but the GTK+ file dialog still is a bit inadequate
on Windows - for example, it shows shortcuts as regular files (which is
technically what they are, at the Windows file system API layer - just regular
files with ".lnk" as a suffix and the appropriate contents).
So I've checked in changes to handle this in Windows as well, although it could
use some refinement (i.e., it might be possible to make a message box with
arbitrary button labels by providing a template in the resource file and using
that to construct a message box).
I will backport those changes to the 1.8 branch.
