I tested a backward search through the zipped capture that I had attached and
it took about 15 minutes. Canceling a backward search only took a few seconds
to complete. Of course it is far more efficient to unzip the capture first and
that is exactly we do. 

Wireshark could be enhanced to unzip the file for the user or a warning could
be added to the users guide. A popup message with a "Don't warn me again"
checkbox could also be implemented but I'll leave that decisions to you.
