Created an attachment (id=6780)

2nd updated patch based on Richard's comments.

bug 6189 was recently filed, which appears to be a duplicate of bug1636, but
since there's activity surrounding text2pcap, in an effort to move this bug
along, I tried to clean up Jack's patch based on Richard's feedback. Maybe
this is good enough to commit now? This patch won't directly help those other
bugs, but it could avoid other parsing problems, particularly with the ASCII
trouble, namely: “000000 61 62 20 63 64 20 ab cd ab cd ..”
