FWIW, a
$>~/devel/wireshark/tshark -V -r /var/tmp/mysql.pcap

immediately gives :

MySQL Protocol
    Packet Length: 9
    Packet Number: 7
    length: 1
    text: 1
    length: 4
    text: miau
    Payload: FIXME - dissector is incomplete

I'm wondering whether the internal logic of the mysql dissector produces
different results if called from tshark versus called from wireshark w/ respect
to the settings if packet details should be shown.
