Currently we're in the process of doing a MAINTENANCE release on 1.0.
Maintenance release means fixing bugs, correcting builds and docs, stuff like
that.
NEW features, like SERCOS III, are lined up in the development tree. This tree
will collect all bug fixes, new features, dropped features, etc. Once this has
matured enough it will become the new release, superseding the 1.0 release.
See also http://wiki.wireshark.org/Development/ReleaseNumbers
There is no fixed timetable for Wireshark releases. It's up to the core
developers, and especially Gerald Combs, to decide a new release is prudent.
