Ethereal-users: RE: [Ethereal-users] About ethereal and rtp trafffic, packet loss
Hi, I have a question....i don't want to receive any more ethereal
emails, how do I stop that?
Thanks.

Hi,
I would realy like a preference to ignore duplicated packets (within a
*short* time of another) as for one
Extreme switches has the *feature* to duplicate packets on the mirroring
port in some circumstances.

It is NOT a bug in the sense that currently it just applies the loss
calculation from RFC 3550 (RTP) by the letter (which has the property of
counting e.g. duplicate packets as negative losses). Of course, we can
always discuss wether this algorithm makes sense or not and if we should
for example count duplicate packets seperately. Note however that there
might be very complicated scenarios of lost/duplicate/out of order
packets.

A negative packet loss i thinks makes little or no sense as such it
might be a proportion of duplicates but that I think is a bug worth
being reported at http://bugs.ethereal.com
Max delta is the maximum time gap between two consecutive packets.
