Having debugged RTP and MGCP connections with SS7 before, I dont think this is a problem you can trace with ethereal too much. This sounds more like a hardware problem or a software bug to me. Like a buffer overflow on the ethernet card or inside the software. Maybe Ethernet misconfiguration (duplex/simplex) which only shows up with heavy traffic from/to ethernet switch.Problems you would more likely spot with ethereal are misconfigured IP's or problems during a certain type of call (for example if fax newer works but others do, you could see the codec negotiation and the like). But maybe a full ethereal trace will give you insights we havn't thought of. I would try to see what you get there.
