Those are default spanning tree frames.  And one STP frame per two seconds is EXTREMELY cheap insurance.  Considering that busy subnets can move 10,000+ packets per second, it's nothing. 

One thing you should be aware of is, if you have a complex L2 topology, you should know who your root bridge is.  Lot of people map out IP subnet topology, but never L2 bridge topology.  It can be a life saver if you run into problems.
