Can Ethereal monitor also traffic from an AS400 IP address onto a network?

What about the sonic Firewall hardware/software?

What I am looking for is a piece of software that will tell me what is
causing our network to hang up - as if someone is downloading information
from the internet during a specific time 

Will this product work?
