and everything went fine.

But when I type "ethereal" i a shell nothing happens.
When happens if, in the top-level Ethereal build directory (the one in which you ran "configure", "make", and "make install"), you type "./ethereal"? 

If that doesn't run Ethereal, what happens if you type "ls -l ethereal"?
