That filter is a display filter. You want to set up Ethereal with a capture filter like: 

"host 192.168.0.1"

which is in the format needed by the pcap system.

I am trying to make ethereal capture traffic for a certain IP and have ethereal log to a capture file that lives on the hard drive. I want this to be done on the fly. I don't want to manually have to save the file. My filter is ip.src == 192.168.0.1 . Any help is appreciated. Michael
