Ethereal-users: [Ethereal-users] Bugs: v 0.10.6 on FreeBSD, using ieee80211_radiotap(9)
Hello All,
I am running the FreeBSD ports version of Ethereal (0.10.6)
compiled with the following:
GTK+ 2.4.9
Glib 2.4.6
libpcap 0.8.3
libz 1.2.1
libpcre 4.5
Net-SNMP 5.1.2
ADNS
FreeBSD is 5.3BETA4 as of Wed, Sept 15th. Running two
kernels+modules: one w/ Sam's [1] Atheros patches and one w/o.
Bugs applicable in both cases.
Two bugs:
---
<not critical>
Capture -> Start
Change 'Interface' to a wireless one (e.g. ath0)
Attempt to change 'Link-layer header type' to something other
than 'Ethernet'
The other options are not displayed. I can get them to be
displayed by running a capture using Ethernet, stopping, and
performing another capture. The two wireless ones (w/ and w/o
radiotap headers) are displayed correctly.
---
<moderately critical for wireless assessments>
Capture -> Start
Change 'Interface' to a wireless one (e.g. ath0)
Change 'Link-layer header type' to a wireless option
Checkbox 'Update list of packets in real time' under 'Display
Options'
An error window (one w/ red circle & white line) pops up w/ the
following message: Child capture process exited: exit status 1
I can have Ethereal perform real time updates when using the
Ethernet link type & it works as normal.
Any hints or patches I could try?
TIA,
Jon Passki
