I set the display and after doing echo $DISPLAY i get...

Deadcow:~ apple$ echo $DISPLAY
:0

I'm kinda stuck, is there any way to open X11 from the terminal, I've reinstalled Panther X11 but for some reason it isn't opening. Thanks

well, I guess I fixed the previous problem by removing X11 and I've installed ethereal. When I run sudo ethereal I get...

Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

This is running from my terminal. Technically it should open right because I've installed xfree86. Or would I have to reinstall the panther version of x11? thanks for the help

If, from that terminal window, you type "echo $DISPLAY", what do you see?
