You misspelled "UNIX" - cron long antendates Linux, and most if not all
UNIX-compatible systems, including but not limited to Linux, have it.

You also have "at" on most UNIXes.

On UNIX, sending Tethereal a SIGTERM, which is the default signal for a
"kill" command, will shut it down gracefully.

There's no similar mechanism for Windows.
