I have been trying to install Ethereal in a few ways without success.

Red Hat 7.2 I have installed the Ethereal .rpm files, but I still get one complaint when I try to run ethereal, it says it cannot find libcrypt.so.0 I have tried to install openssl and some glib things which could have this, but with no luck. I see in my /lib/libcrypt.so.1 and 2 but no 0

I have installed Ethereal on Windows 2000 and Windows 98 weinie machines, but when I run it, I can only see the traffic to and from the host I am on. I want to watch two other hosts communicate and capture the packets, for an embedded project I have designed.

I try to set the filter to look at host 10.10.10.250 with:
ip.src == 10.10.10.150

but that simple filter complains of a parse error.

I have set the "promiscuous" flag in the settings of Ethereal on PC.

I have just done this yesterday with the latest, and am very frustrated to get it to work.

It looks like it could be a very nice package.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
