This of course is a can of worms I wish I hadn't opened at this point.
I'm not sure of the value of sending tarballs, capture files, etc to a
list. I for one don't want to receive unsolicited attachments on a list.

...and also blocks

	the sending of capture files;

	the sending of tarballs of source code;

	the sending of patches in a form where they won't get mangled by
	"helpful" mail software that wraps lines or replaces tabs with
	spaces;

by anybody who doesn't, for example, have access to "uuencode".

(Of course, *I* solve the problem of infected e-mail by not using any
software from Redmond, Washington, USA to read my e-mail - or any other
software that contains a programming language interpreter....)
