Stefan, if you go into your Network Control Panel under the Configuration
tab do you see a line showing the packet driver bound to your ethernet card?
For example, it should say something like
"Network Packet Driver for Win95/98 v 2.02 -> Brand name of your ethernet
card"
If you don't see that line, or if you only see the packet driver bound to
some other interface, then I suggest you try re-installing the packet
driver. On my Win98 system I find that the packet driver install goes into
a kind of endless loop of re-prompting for the driver, but if I quit after
only the first interaction the driver is only bound to my dial-up adapter,
so I had to go through the loop a couple of times to get it bound to my
ethernet adapter.
