If your running linux, I would recommend one of the cards using
the acenic gibabit ethernet driver. You can find some more information
at:

http://jes.home.cern.ch/jes/gige/acenic.html

I would use a custom compiled 2.2.17 kernel, pentium III 800mhz, and 256MB
of ram.
