Jim,
I agree with you. On some of my remote boxes, the communication lines are slow,
and I prefer to have the real-time update off. However, on some local, faster
boxes, capturing specific packets, I like to have real-time update turned on.

Not necessarily. It depends on how much horsepower your computer has
and how much traffic is on the line. Is there an RC file where these
defaults can be configured?
