Hi,
I am quite new to ethereal development and I tried to build ethereal 0.10.12 on Windows XP with Microsoft Visual Studio 6. I (think I) downloaded all the necessary tools, libs, sources and read a lot of documentation (developer's guide, readme.win32,...), but know I'm stuck.
Could you have a look at my config.nmake to see what's wrong. I don't know exactly how to specify the executables like the comand line tool and thus, I'm not sure whether commands like pod2man... are executed. I don't use Cygwin, so there are quite a lot of things to change in the file.
The page:
http://www.ethereal.com/docs/edg_html_chunked/ChToolsWin32Recommended.html
will give you a good overview about the recommended tools.
You should have good reasons (and good knowledge with UNIX like build
environments) to compile Ethereal without cygwin installed (e.g. a bash
*is* mandatory).
I tried to build Ethereal with "nmake -f makefile.nmake" and it ran for quite a while, but when I came back: errors, errors, errors.
That's why I also attached a log file of the nmake-process. Perhaps there's something wrong with the "ftypes" directory?
No, there's something wrong with your build environment.
