Indeed. OK, here's a revised set of patches which reverts to using "read filter" in Tethereal. Please could you consider checking them in.

I think users could be confused, though, by calling almost-identical features by different names. Perhaps we could add a few words to both documents explaining the different names. I'm not sure "read filter" is a good name, though: I remember when I first started using (T)ethereal being confused between "capture filter" and "read filter". How about "output filter" for both programs?
