... that I've seen all over the place in searching, but found few  
answers to, and none that help.  I'm running on OS X 10.4.2, and have  
compiled (all with Apple's gcc-4.0.0) the latest versions of glib  
(2.6.6), gtk+ (2.6.9), and pango (1.8.2), but no amount of rebuilding  
dependencies helps me to get ethereal running.  Any help is appreciated.

(ethereal:22237): Pango-CRITICAL **: _pango_engine_shape_shape:  
assertion `PANGO_IS_FONT (font)' failed

Pango-ERROR **: file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape): assertion  
failed: (glyphs->num_glyphs > 0)

aborting...
