yeah it seems that document was created in 2003, so long after i last looked at asf. the only other asf recorder that i know of hasn't had a new release since 2001. i'm not sure what asf related decoders have been updated since the publication of the ms spec.

i wrote something to read asf from a micrsoft media server with another guy anthony young (if i remember his name right) in 2000... it's just been sitting around collecting dust ever since then. i don't know if the format has changed since then, the code hasn't been maintained, but at the time it could fully decode asf and separate out the different bitrate streams being broadcasted from a windows media server. see attachment
